1.4841 steel is a heat-resistant austenitic steel. It can be successfully used for the ends of glass blowing pipes, baskets for firing porcelain, especially heavy-duty parts of the conveyors. It is heat resistant up to the temperature of 1150 degrees C, and in an environment containing fumes and sulfur compounds up to 1000 degrees C depending on the concentrations.

The features of this steel are the combination of good strength and corrosion resistance at temperatures up to 1149 * C. Due to the relatively high content of chromium and nickel, it exceeds 304 and 309 steel in most environments. It exhibits excellent resistance to carburization and nitriding. This alloy is processed similarly to 304 steel. Its chips are stringy and harden quickly. It is necessary to constantly maintain the cutting tool and use chip breakers. Good resistance to reducing and oxidizing environments up to 1149 * C. Also resistant to atmospheric and sea corrosion, salts of hydrocyanic acid. Although the alloy has a high hardening speed, it can be drawn, fluted, swelled and pressed. Complete annealing is required after cold working to remove internal stresses. Steel used, among others, for the production of parts for heating furnaces, carburizing boxes, flue gas cleaners, annealing boxes, nitric acid industry.

Grade 1.4845 is an austenitic chrome-nickel type 25/20 stainless steel suitable for high-temperature applications. The grade has good resistance to carburizing, sulfidation and oxidation combined with moderate creep strength and structural stability.

1.4845 has very good resistance to oxidation and sulfidation. It can be used in:

-Air: up to 1100°C (2010°F)

-Sulfur-containing atmospheres: up to 650-1050°C (1200-1920°F), depending on operating conditions. Factors to consider in this situation include whether the atmosphere is oxidizing or reducing, and whether impurities such as sodium and vanadium are present.
