This acid-resistant austenitic steel is used in the chemical, food and construction industries. It is used for heat exchangers, acid tanks, absorption towers in the chemical and nitrogen industries, and for equipment, pump parts and agitators in the pharmaceutical and paint industry. In the food industry, it is used for elements exposed to aggressive preservatives such as salt. It is characterized by very good weldability (all known methods). It has exceptionally good resistance to various types of aggressive agents, including hot petroleum products. Steel grade 1H18N9T (1.4541) also has good corrosion resistance.
