1.4541 elbows for steam, exhaust and heat exchangers
1.4541 (AISI 321), X6CrNiTi18-10, is a titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel. Titanium ties up carbon, so no chromium carbides form at the grain boundaries after welding or in service at approx. 400–800 °C (750–1,470 °F), and welds keep their resistance to intergranular corrosion. That is why 321 elbows are installed in steam and condensate lines, district heating systems, exhaust and flue gas systems, on heat exchangers and in the chemical and petrochemical industries. The steel also handles repeated heating and cooling well.
Chemical composition of 1.4541 / 321
| Grade | C | Cr | Ni | Ti |

| 1.4541 / 321 | ≤ 0.08 | 17.0–19.0 | 9.0–12.0 | 5×C – 0.70 |
Values in wt. % per EN 10088. Equivalents: 1.4541 = X6CrNiTi18-10 = AISI 321 = UNS S32100; fittings per ASTM A403 – WP321.
Angles, radii and sizes
We stock 92 elbows in 321. Most are long-radius (1.5D) 90° elbows, complemented by short-radius (1D) 90° elbows for tight spaces and by 45° elbows. Outside diameters range from 21.3 to 323.9 mm (DN15–DN300), with walls from 2 to 12.5 mm. Match each elbow to pipe with the same OD and wall thickness so the butt-weld ends line up. Center-to-face dimensions for every size are listed in the seamless elbow dimensions table.
Welding and limitations
321 elbows are TIG-welded, most often with niobium-stabilized filler (type 347). The steel contains no molybdenum, so in chloride-bearing water, brines and acidic media, 316L or 316Ti elbows perform better. Above approx. 800 °C (1,470 °F), where oxidation resistance is what counts, heat-resistant grades are used.
321 pipe and flanges
To go with the elbows, choose 321 / 1.4541 pipe & tube and 321 / 1.4541 flanges. For chloride-bearing media, select 316L / 1.4404 elbows or 316Ti / 1.4571 elbows. Other grades are in the Seamless Elbows category.
